What We Do

With a product range incorporating everything from pot and pack bedding to planted containers, Happy Plants is geared towards independent garden centres/ small multiples and our team are on a mission to help nurture, enthuse and educate gardeners for generations to come. Not only do Happy Plants now look the part, but the competitive pricing and long term performance of Porters’ stock will surely secure return custom to your Planteria.

Described by an industry leading marketing manager, as ‘a new, innovative marketing concept with a modern, fresh approach… Happy Plants is completely different to anything else in today’s horticultural market and represents a completely new approach to marketing plant product.’

Considerable time has been invested in to developing an eye-catching range of premium marketing materials – from bespoke care cards to handles, banners and bench tape -along with conducting research to make sure that the format we’ve selected for a product is something customers will actually want to buy; the more inclined a customer is to buy our products for the first time, the more that will boost initial sales, the better this is for our garden centres and then we depend on to the crop’s performance to make that customer want to buy our stock again.

For this reason, our plan extends far beyond the branding. We’ve re-geared the whole product range to maximise both shelf appeal and garden performance, focussing on product success for even the most novice customer. The new range includes well fed, large-cell packs, ready planted containers, brightly coloured pots and larger pot bedding, alongside the standard nursery lines.

Through careful product selection and growing/feeding with long term performance in mind, our team give the plants the best possible start in life, our bespoke labels give the core care information required and, for 2017, our detailed care sheets will provide the customer with the comprehensive knowledge to help that product thrive.

Within twelve months of reaching the market, the Happy Plants brand was awarded Horticulture Week’s Consumer Marketing Campaign of the Year, beating some stiff competition to claim the title at the prestigious  UK Grower Awards in Covent Garden.

On the same night, Nat was also announced as Top Sales and Marketing Professional, making the Porters’ team one of very few companies to scoop two awards.

Our container sales saw a 148% increase for 2015, just through switching to Porters’ Baskets and Planters!

I’ve dealt with the Porter Family on numerous occasions over the past thirty years and have always been impressed by both the service and quality they supply. Happy Plants looks set to provide a burst of youthful colour and energy to the industry; I’m delighted to see Porters Fuchsias return to a Garden Centre focus and look forward to seeing what the future holds.
